New Quizzes | It’s Okay to Experiment!

Online Learning Support

Have you heard the news? New Quizzes is officially live at UNF! This cutting-edge assessment tool is revolutionizing the way educators create, deliver, and analyze quizzes. With its intuitive interface, advanced features, and seamless integration with the Canvas platform, New Quizzes empowers instructors to design engaging assessments that truly measure student understanding and promote deeper learning.

Don't Panic...Manipulate!

We understand that being introduced to a new tool can be overwhelming. As we launch New Quizzes, remember that this is an opportunity to explore, navigate, and serve as a novice when manipulating the tool. First and foremost, it’s essential to remember that everyone starts somewhere. Whether you’re a tenured Canvas user or quiz guru, there’s always a learning curve when it comes to new features. Instead of viewing this as a hurdle, see it as an opportunity for growth. Embrace the process of learning and allow yourself the grace to make mistakes along the way.

We do not expect anyone to start implementing New Quizzes in their courses immediately. Testing new quizzes in your sandboxes is highly encouraged to become acclimated and accustomed to the features, new question types, etcetera. To help you out along the way, our New Quizzes Hub will be kept up to date with news, support documentation, and training materials, so be sure to bookmark this essential resource!

When experimenting with new features like new quizzes, it’s often best to start with smaller, manageable tasks. Create a simple quiz with a handful of new questions types to familiarize yourself with the interface and functionality. As you become more comfortable, you can gradually increase the complexity of your quizzes and explore advanced features. Use the tips and tricks below as you are manipulating new quizzes.

Tips and Tricks

When selecting “+ Quiz”, you will be prompted to choose which quiz engine you’d like to work with. Be sure to not select “remember my choice for this course.” If this is selected, your selection will be your default quiz type for every quiz you create. Leaving this box unchecked allows the flexibility to use either quiz engine moving forward.

Once you enable New Quizzes, the icon for new quizzes will be a solid (filled in) rocket ship, making it easy to spot the different quiz types on the Quizzes index page. This can help you keep track of which quizzes you have migrated. For instructions on migrating existing quizzes, refer to our support document.

You should use Quiz Preview to preview and test quizzes instead of using the test student in your course. Quizzes taken as the test student cannot be reset and appear in New Quizzes reports. When you preview the quiz, you are viewing it from the student’s perspective without affecting the quiz analytics.
