You’ve heard a lot from us recently about LinkedIn Learning and it’s benefit to the UNF community. As part of UNF’s partnership with LinkedIn Learning, faculty, staff, and students simply have to log into LinkedIn Learning with a UNF ID in order to access to the full repository of extensive content. Now, we have exciting news for instructors who want to capitalize on this valuable resource to supplement and enrich their students’ learning experiences.
Starting in Summer of 2023, the LinkedIn Learning Canvas integration will be available for all courses as an LTI tool, which means instructors will be able to embed LinkedIn Learning videos and course material straight into Canvas Pages, Assignments, and Modules.
Fewer Clicks, Simpler Design
Earlier this year, our Getting Connected with LinkedIn Learning blog post and LinkedIn Learning support doc introduced processes for embedding LinkedIn Learning content into Canvas that involve copying a direct link to a piece of LinkedIn Learning content and pasting the link onto a Canvas page or Assignment using the Rich Content Editor. While these processes are still a valid way to share LinkedIn Learning content in Canvas, they involve many clicks across two different platforms. The new LTI installation offers a streamlined approach, because you can locate and embed the LinkedIn Learning content all through the Canvas External Tool window.
Additional Benefits
Beyond the ease of access to the LinkedIn Learning content library for instructors, the Canvas LTI offers a few other benefits as well. Students who are already logged into Canvas will be taken directly into their UNF LinkedIn Learning account when accessing embedded content, which ensures they will not encounter any barriers restricting access. Additionally, embedding published LinkedIn Learning videos directly into Canvas assignments or as content in a module makes it easy for students to stay in one location for their planned learning experiences.
