Getting Connected with LinkedIn Learning

Online Learning Support

LinkedIn Learning is a free online learning platform for students, faculty, and staff at the University of North Florida. It hosts educational content from experts in technology, business, marketing strategy, sales, and more! Its wide range of courses and certifications can help students understand challenging content and empower faculty and staff to stay current in a rapidly changing world.

Most notably, instructors can assign LinkedIn Learning courses as assignments to supplement learning, and students can earn certifications while studying for their degrees. So, whoever you are, LinkedIn Learning helps you learn new skills and grow your career by providing access to trusted professionals with in-demand skills.

🎓 WHO CAN USE LINKEDIN LEARNING?

LinkedIn Learning is available to all students, faculty, and staff at UNF. Visit the UNF ITS LinkedIn Learning webpage to learn how to access the platform, or check out our LinkedIn Learning support article to dive deeper.

💁 DO I NEED A LINKEDIN ACCOUNT TO USE LINKEDIN LEARNING?

No. You can use LinkedIn Learning without having an existing LinkedIn account. If you don’t have a LinkedIn account, you’ll be directed to the UNF login page where you’ll enter your UNFID username and password. You may need to use Duo for two-factor authentication.

Optional: If you already have a LinkedIn profile, you’ll be prompted to connect it to your UNF LinkedIn Learning account, so there’s no need to recreate your profile from scratch or sign up for a new account.

🔗 HOW CAN I ADD LINKEDIN LEARNING CONTENT TO CANVAS?

Adding LinkedIn Learning content to your course is simple. Here’s how it works:

First, choose a course from the LinkedIn Learning library that fits your students’ needs and interests or matches their career goals. Then, create an assignment in Canvas that requires students to upload their certificate as proof of completion.

As part of the assignment, you might ask students to:

  • Watch videos from niched experts who share their knowledge on your course topic.
  • Review materials by watching videos and taking quizzes that reinforce learning content until they feel confident enough to ace the exam and earn a badge.
  • Submit an assignment in response to the content or create a project demonstrating the use of concepts taught within the LinkedIn Learning course.

Expand the sections below to view sample LinkedIn Learning assignment directions that you can provide to your students.

Sample Directions | LinkedIn Learning Assignment - Part I

I recommend you create an assignment to verify that students have access to the LinkedIn Learning platform. Ideally, this assignment would be due early in the semester, to allow students several weeks to view and master the LinkedIn Learning content.

LinkedIn Learning Assignment - Part I

  1. Please sign up for your LinkedIn Learning account.
  2. Once your account is set up, please take a screenshot of the home page to verify that you have LinkedIn Learning access. Please ensure that your name is included in the screenshot to verify that the account is yours.
    • Use your mouse to hover over your profile to show your name.
      • To screenshot from a PC: Press the Print-Screen Button (top right of keyboard) then open Word to copy/paste into a new document (Ctrl + V). Save as a Word doc.
      • To screenshot from a Mac: Press the Command + Shift + 3 keys together. The screenshot should be saved directly to your desktop. Insert the screenshot on a Word doc and then save.
  3. Attach your screenshot via file upload below. Only Word docs will be accepted.

An Easy Way to Learn & Grow Professional Skills

LinkedIn Learning is a learning platform with over 15,000 courses in 14 languages available to all UNF students, faculty, and staff. It’s easy to use— and you can learn from anywhere, anytime. It’s a convenient and flexible way to make your Canvas course more robust and engaging.

Students can even publish LinkedIn Learning course certificates to their personal LinkedIn profiles! This helps students demonstrate the skills they possess along with their college degrees, making graduates more desirable and marketable in their future careers.
