Scope and Cost

Zoom is scoped at the institutional level and is available to all UNF faculty using Canvas. It is used by distance learning instructors who wish to elevate their office hour availability, host synchronous meetings with their students, and/or provide student access to web recorded content like lectures or seminars. All Zoom meetings created within the Canvas LTI are available to all people within the course roster.

There is no cost associated with Zoom. All UNF faculty and students have access to Zoom via their single sign-on credentials.

Canvas Integration

Zoom is available as the default conferencing platform integrated with UNF’s Canvas instance. If the Zoom link is not visible by default in a course’s navigation menu, faculty can enable it via the course setting’s navigation tab.

Canvas Integrations Include:

  • Course roster syncs with Zoom roster.
  • Course participants have access to Zoom meetings and cloud recordings.
  • In concert with aPlus Attendance, Zoom attendance can be paired to record participation and add a gradable component to a student’s attendance.

Requirements

Zoom works with a variety of devices and operating systems. Visit the Zoom support site for an up-to-date list of the minimum system requirements.

Caveats

As with any integration, CIRT recommends scheduling a consultation to discuss considerations and implications for Zoom before using it with your course.

Support Report

The implementation of a grading system for CIRT support not only facilitates efficient resource allocation but also fosters transparency in our service delivery. By self-grading our support levels as A+, B+, and C+, we provide faculty with a transparent framework that outlines the expected level of assistance they can anticipate when reaching out for help.

A support grade of “A+” represents the best of our assistance capabilities. This grade signifies that our team has extensive familiarity with the app and/or integration. We have excellent internal documentation, and our support team feels comfortable troubleshooting most issues without having to reach out to the vendor for assistance. Because a majority of issues are handled internally, users of applications and/or integrations with an “A+” grade can expect swift and comprehensive resolutions when possible.
