Important Note: Honorlock is licensed for use with Distance Learning (DL) courses only. For additional information and questions concerning proctored exams, please contact CIRT at cirtlab@unf.edu or 904-620-3927.

What is Honorlock?

Honorlock is the online proctoring service adopted for use with Distance Learning courses. Honorlock provides services similar to what a student would experience when visiting a testing center, with identity verification and capture of that ID, and monitoring and recording of the testing environment, which will include a room scan of the surrounding exam environment. The service uses a Chrome extension and records the webcam and screen activity during the exam period.

From the Publisher

While other online exam proctoring services simply try to catch cheating, Honorlock aims to bring integrity, humanity, confidence, and positive outcomes to students and faculty. We examine our efforts to ensure that all of our processes are what’s best for our partners.

Features

  • On-demand proctoring
  • Detect devices
  • LMS integration
  • Third-party tests
  • Protect test content
  • Voice detection

LMS Integration

Honorlock’s online proctoring software directly integrates with Canvas so that:

  • No additional passwords or logins are required
  • Instructors can create proctored exams like they already do within the LMS and review reports and time-stamped exam recordings
  • Students launch the proctored exam within the LMS like normal and can access support without having to leave the exam window

Honorlock also allows faculty to protect exams on third-party platforms such as MyMathLab, ALEKS, Pearson, and McGraw Hill. Faculty simply register third-party exams and customize the exam settings within the Honorlock Canvas integration.

This course will use Honorlock proctoring for some exams. Honorlock records the visual, audio, and desktop aspects of your exam, and you may be required to perform a room scan. You will need a laptop or desktop computer, webcam, and microphone in order to use this tool. Chrome is the only compatible browser and you will need to install the Honorlock extension; Honorlock also requires an up-to-date OS. You may also be required to perform an ID verification as part of the test taking process. Acceptable forms of identification include government-issued ID cards, school-issued ID cards, or passports. Additional information, FAQs, and important updates to minimum system requirements can be found on UNF’s Student Honorlock Information page.

Support Model

In addition to Honorlock’s official support center, UNF Faculty who need help with this tool can contact cirtlab@unf.edu (or phone at 904-620-3927). Our Online Learning Support team can help to troubleshoot any issues you might be having.
