Creating meaningful online assessments presents unique challenges for instructors who are used to teaching in face-to-face settings. It is possible to create practical, rigorous online assessments; however, special consideration must be given to alignment with learning outcomes, assessment type, technological feasibility, and academic integrity.
Student response systems are interactive quizzing tools teachers can use to quickly assess student understanding and increase student engagement in real time.
Currently, Quizzes in Canvas are difficult to print and cannot be downloaded directly to a MS Word format. Quizzes can be exported from Canvas in the QTI format, imported into Respondus, and printed from there.
Respondus allows instructors to create exams offline in a familiar Windows environment. The software provides many time-saving tools, such as the ability to import existing exams from word processor files or from publisher test banks into Canvas.
